The Ruiz Law Firm, PLLC, handles a wide range of legal matters and gets results for our clients. Below are some of the cases our firm has had the pleasure of working on in the last couple of years. These provide a sampling of how the firm operates and the diversity of the cases it handles. They are not a guarantee of how your case will turn out as all cases are unique and results differ depending on various factors in the individual situations.
Immigration: A Cuban Refugee who became a Legal Permanent Resident was busted visiting a “friend’s grow house,” while testing the foliage, federal agents unexpectedly paid them a visit. My client was detained in county jail and charged with possessing five to 50 lbs of marijuana, and after successfully completing two of his three years of probation, ICE broke down his door one day and took him to the CCA Immigrant Detention Center in Houston.
This happens all the time to LPRs with domestic violence, drugs, fraud, DWIs and other dangerous crimes in their past. Long story short, we were able to establish that his past history of persecution raised a rebuttable presumption of future persecution, that his testimony was consistent with affidavits and other evidence of prior imprisonment and abuse as a defector of the communist regime and that he deserved the judge’s discretion in granting him a final opportunity to remain in the U.S. He’s heading home to his family, as I write this note.
Employment: 20-year veteran county employee wrongfully terminated for racial slurs. My client was “squeezed out” of her job after new co-workers discovered she made more money than them. They conspired against her and the supervisor bought in and accused my client of making racist comments toward co-workers. We went through the grievance process and the county still refused to present their employee-witnesses.
Thus, when the workforce commission hearing was concluded, my client was awarded continued compensation at the county’s expense because their evidence was based on hearsay, despite months of preparation they could not produce one employee to come forward against my client. She’s now taking a few days off for a well-deserved vacation.
Contracts: A wealthy landowner had been in a property-line dispute for three years with her neighbor, both wanted to sell but neither could because of the pending lien battles between them. She came to to the Ruiz Law Firm, PLLC, very upset and “wanted blood” when she arrived. Instead, we gave her peace of mind.
Our legal team looked at the numbers and the pros and cons of her position. Within two-weeks, attorney Ruiz negotiated a settlement for his client to be properly compensated for the dispute. The neighbor’s place has sold and the client can now move-on from that barrier. She went to Europe recently, and we hope she’s toasting a glass to our firm!
Accidents: One of Abogado Ruiz’ personal injury clients called him moments after being rear-ended at a stop sign. She was hit full-force and her car was totaled. Abogado Ruiz acted fast and got her into a rental car immediately. She was able to recover all of her property damage within a couple of weeks and was able to get a new car.
The client followed Abogado Ruiz’s guidance and properly documented each step along the way. This is one of many accident cases Abogado Ruiz gives direct attention to. We demanded policy limits and fought hard to ensure she was well-compensated for her totaled vehicle, injuries and lost wages.
